I’ll admit it — for a long time, I was funny, not fun.
Like many of us, I came out of COVID feeling… a bit tame.
Work felt heavier, meetings more serious, and even the best people seemed a little less connected, curious, and joyful.
Somewhere between the Zoom fatigue and the endless to-do lists, we lost some of the spark that makes learning, collaborating, and creating together human.
Over the last few years, I’ve made it a priority to bring more play and joy back into my life and my work.
As a mother of three, my family would say I’m funny — but fun? That took conscious effort.
And what I’ve learned is:
– Play isn’t just light-hearted — it’s transformational.
– It opens minds, builds trust, and disarms egos.
– Teams that play together think better, engage deeper, and have greater performance outcomes.
I recently discovered #play14 #play14 – play is the way – Play is the Way, a global movement built on the belief that play is one of the best ways to learn, share, and get creative.
I haven’t attended an event yet, however I have connected with an organiser and it’s in my 2026 diary — because scheduling fun isn’t a contradiction, it’s a strategy.
That philosophy now runs through everything I design — especially The Level Up Program™, Transform Your Team with The Level Up Program™ – Diversitas Consulting which blends evidence-based learning, personality insights, reflection, and immersive play (including VR) to help teams and leaders reignite connection and creativity.
And here’s the leadership truth: If engagement is down and stress is up, the smartest strategy might not be another strategy meeting — it might be more play.
This Christmas, we’re running some Level Up Team Program TEAM variations focused purely on connection, fun, and shared experience — because after the year we’ve all had, a little laughter might just be the most strategic thing you do for your people.
