‘Mastering Conflict & Communication Under Stress’ Workshop for Hybrid Teams

Through this workshop you are investing in your managers and leaders to lead their hybrid teams with confidence and clear communication at all levels of the organization. Managers and leaders value building their self-awareness and communication skills, yet often need ongoing support to do this effectively and consistently. In the workshop, we focus on leveraging both their communication strengths and understanding when their communication styles may create a negative and stressful impact on those around them. We go deeper into who they are and how they typically communicate both at their best and when under stress. We look at how others may experience them when they are under stress and strategies for identifying and shifting this behavior to ensure they are empowering all members of their teams to work towards achieving success.

Why Attend the Workshop?

This workshop is relevant for all managers and leaders who have direct reports virtually and/or in the office. They may be experiencing:

  • Stress due to workloads and limited staff resources
  • Life stress due to the unstable external environment
  • Communication barriers amongst staff
  • Conflict within their team and/or with others in the organization

Workshop Format & Duration

This can be run as a half day or full day workshop, and includes a facilitator-led discussion, practical activities, and role-plays. The workshop operates well with 6–20 participants. This group size allows for individual participant’s questions to be answered and for the workshop to be interactive, conversational, engaging, and effective in achieving its outcomes. All participants receive relevant subject matter guides and materials.

Pre-workshop

  • Positive Intelligence (Mental Fitness) complimentary assessment & report emailed to participants which takes 10-15 mins to complete
  • Knowledge & basic understanding of their Myers-Briggs Personality Type

Workshop

During the workshop we will cover these areas:

MBTI Team Type & Communication

The facilitator will deliver activities to help the team to develop a clear understanding of the teams’ personal preferences as well as the team’s type distribution – Team Type. It is important to understand the dominant type preferences in the group and how this may influence how well or not the group works as a team. It can also highlight if there are two different Team Types. Often this can be between the management and the rest of the staff and how this may be impacting on the overall team’s performance.  This provides a great open team discussion and opportunity for the team to work together at finding solutions.

Communication Styles, Conflict & Ways of Working Together in Hybrid Teams

During this stage of the workshop as team members gain a greater self-awareness of their own Type and that of their team members, we start to build upon this going deeper into the different preferred communication styles of the various types within the group. We want to celebrate cognitive diversity amongst the team and show how this can be incorporated for greater diversity of ideas and ways to solve problems and how it can create a more interesting and rewarding work environment.  In this section, we will look at why and what can cause the common misunderstandings and potential conflict for the different types and ways to mitigate these.

Stress & Understanding Your Top Saboteurs & Responses

We bring together the learnings that the team has of their type and those of their colleagues. We then layer this with a greater focus on their ‘Saboteurs’ which are linked to what causes the greatest amount of stress and anxiety for a person. We look at the theory of ‘Positive Intelligence’ and our Saboteurs and how they play out. Incorporating their PQ report and assessment results. Learning to pre-empt our own saboteurs and how and when they typically show up in new or difficult situations & having a plan to better manage this. We encourage the team to share their saboteurs and explore ways we can choosing to adopt a different or no response via engaging more positive sage like responses.

Team Retrospective & Agreed Next Steps (Individual & Group)

What are the next steps for the team to be agreed and captured with an action plan.

Post Workshop

After the workshop (2-3 days) we can arrange to have a one hour Zoom or phone debrief.
